MONDAY PREP ROUNDUP: St. Anthony volleyball, Teutopolis girls tennis honor seniors with wins; Claresa Ruholl ties for second-most digs in a match in Teutopolis volleyball's win over Newton

Oct. 10—EFFINGHAM — The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated Vandalia in two sets on Monday at the Enlow Center.

St. Anthony won the first set 25-14 and the second 25-10.

Addie Wernsing had nine assists. Nora Gannaway had four aces. Andrea Rudolphi had five kills and one block. Laney Coffin had two blocks. Stacie Vonderheide had five assists. Abbi Hatton had six kills and one block. Addi Nuxoll had four kills. Abby Thoele had one kill. Gracie Passalaqua had two aces. Maddie Kibler had one ace and Anna Niemeyer had three kills and one block.

Teutopolis 2, Newton 1

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated the Newton Lady Eagles in three sets on Monday at J.H. Griffin Gym.

Teutopolis (14-13) won the first set 25-19, lost the second 24-26 and won the third 25-18.

Emma Deters had seven kills, one ace, four blocks and three digs. Sara Niemerg had 10 kills, two blocks and five digs. TaNeal Einhorn had six kills, one ace, four blocks and two digs. Danielle Probst had one ace, five digs and six assists. RyLee Dittamore had four kills, two aces, two blocks and one dig. Molly Pals had five kills, one ace, three blocks and two digs. Sara Zumbahlen had one kill, three blocks, one dig and 16 assists. Claresa Ruholl had 26 digs. Summer Wall had two digs and Ava Ruholl had two digs.

"That was the best we've played from start to finish in a match this year," said head coach Jim Dietz in an email to the Daily News. "We passed well all match and that meant we could run an offense and our hitters made good choices all night."

Claresa Ruholl's 26 digs tied for the second-most in a match, equalling last year's match against Cumberland.

As for Newton (16-11), Elley Bennett had one ace, three assists and seven digs. Alisson Stanley had one ace, one kill, one block and two digs. Paige Zumbahlen had one ace, seven kills, two assists and three digs. Brooke Schafer had 13 kills, 14 assists and 10 digs. Bailee Frichtl had five kills and two digs. Camryn Martin had four kills, one assist and six digs. Lilly Kessler had four kills, one block and one dig. Sally Mahaffey had 12 assists and two digs and Allie Hermann had one dig.

Casey-Westfield 2, Toledo (Cumberland) 0

The Cumberland Lady Pirates fell to Casey-Westfield in two sets on Monday.

Cumberland (12-16) lost the first set 19-25 and the second 19-25.

GIRLS TENNIS Teutopolis 9, Champaign (St. Thomas More) 0

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated Champaign (St. Thomas More) on Monday, 9-0.

In singles matches, Anna Probst beat Catherine Ra (6-0, 6-2). Abbie Lee beat Lauren Waldhoff (6-0, 6-1). Julian Hemmen beat Luciana Grant (6-2, 6-1). Olivia Hemmen beat Lydia Case (6-0, 6-0). Jada Buehnerkemper beat Giulia Bedini Jacobini (6-0, 6-0) and Hailey Willenborg beat Mia-Elise Amador (6-0, 6-1).

In doubles matches, Buehnerkemper and Adi Davidson beat Waldhoff and Grant (6-2, 6-1). Olivia and Julian Hemmen beat Ra and Case (6-0, 6-2) and Brianna Hickenbottom and Sydney Rhodes beat Jacobini and Amador (6-1, 6-0).
