Molina, Braun back on field

Two of the National League's top players were to return to the lineup on Tuesday night after missing games because of injuries.

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was to start behind the plate in a game against the Houston Astros after sitting out two games with a knee injury. In Milwaukee, the Brewers welcomed back Ryan Braun from a monthlong absence with a thumb injury for their game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Molina is the top vote-getter in the National League for the All-Star Game to be played July 16. He is batting a league-leading .346 and has an NL-best 26 doubles.

Braun, who has been out since early June, has played in 57 games this season and is hitting .309 with nine home runs and 36 RBI, He was activated from the disabled list on Monday but did not play that night.
