Mohawk Valley high school football schedule, scores for Sept. 21-23

Fall arrives this weekend and brings with it another change in the weather for high school football in the Mohawk Valley.

The schedule kicks off Thursday with Notre Dame's trip from Utica to Tully for a game against the Southern Hills Storm, the combined team fielded by Tully, LaFayette and Fabius-Pompey schools. Temperatures should drop into the low 50s through the course of the game between C-2 and D-2 teams.

A Notre Dame receiver reaches for a low throw during the Jugglers' season-opening Sept. 1 game at Mt. Markham. Notre Dame is the lone area team scheduled to play this Thursday after a busy Thursday schedule last week.

While the weather appears clear through the weekend, Friday appears a little warmer for a schedule that features the start of league play in Class B East with New Hartford hosting Central Valley Academy, Camden playing at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, and Oneida traveling to Carthage. Unbeaten Rome Free Academy and Morrisville-Eaton travel to greater Syracuse for games at Henninger and Weedsport, respectively, and Mt. Markham puts its perfect record on the line at home against Cato-Meridian.

Saturday afternoon will settle in with temperatures in the mid 60s on a long day for high school football for the area, starting with Proctor and Liverpool kicking off at 10:15 a.m. in Utica, and wrapping up with Little Falls hosting Holland Patent with a 7 p.m. start. The afternoon includes two-time defending sectional champion Dolgeville playing its home opener against Herkimer, unbeaten Adirondack taking on the Syracuse Institute of Technology, Westmoreland/Oriskany welcoming Beaver River, and Frankfort-Schuyler's undefeated eight visiting New York Mills.
