New mock trade has Nets sending Joe Harris to Pacers for Myles Turner
Now that the Brooklyn Nets know that both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will be in the fold when they open the 2022-23 season in October, the challenge is making sure they have the right pieces around them in order to contend in the East.
On paper, the Nets have a very strong roster. They were able to bring in solid wing players such as Royce O’Neale and TJ Warren and they will welcome Ben Simmons back from injury so Brooklyn should be able to challenge in the Eastern Conference.
Still, the Nets could use another big man, and Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has been the one to watch on the market. A mock trade from Bleacher Report has the Nets acquiring Turner in exchange for Joe Harris and others.

B/R on why the Nets do this deal
This would move Nic Claxton to the bench, but that’s where he has spent most of his Brooklyn tenure, almost always behind a lesser player than Turner. Having them two on the same roster would ensure that the Nets always have a defensive presence manning the middle, and staggering Claxton’s minutes with Ben Simmons’ would help alleviate any spacing concerns.
Analyzing the deal from a Nets standpoint
The big thing to remember is the report that the Nets are adamant that they do not want to include Harris in a deal for Turner. At that point, they would have to offer up maybe Seth Curry and get another team involved in order to acquire him, but Turner would be a huge get for Brooklyn.
At the moment, the Nets are slated to start both Simmons and Nic Claxton which would cause a lot of spacing issues on the offensive end. Turner, on the other hand, can shoot the 3-ball and he does so willingly. His addition would make teams think about it when they go for double-teaming any of the team’s stars. If the Nets can get Turner then it would be a big boost to the team’s offensive flow.
