MJ state champion Winzenread highlights all-county swim team

Mar. 20—Girls' 100-breaststroke state champion Bryce Winzenread highlights the all-Wilson County swim team.

Winzenread, a freshman, is Wilson County's first state swimming champion since Mt. Juliet's Carrie Johnson in 2014. She is also Wilson County's Girls' Swimmer of the Year while her MJHS teammate, sophomore Ben Caillouet, took the boys' honor.

Green Hill's boys won their fourth straight county championship while the Lady Hawks won their third consecutive county title. Mt. Juliet survived highly contested meets against Wilson Central and Lebanon to tie Cookeville for the District 5 regular-season championship.

Mt. Juliet's boys and Green Hill's girls led Wilson County teams in points scored in January's Middle Tennessee Regional Championships. The Hawks had eight swimmers advance to the state in individual events while the Golden Bears had five and Lebanon one. Joining Winzenread on the All-Wilson County girls' team are Wilson Central senior Jadyn McGrew; Mt. Juliet's Emery Blaylock and Grace Leifheit and Green Hill's Sophia Allen, Lilly Howell, Caroline Irvin, Polly Lounsbury, Morgan Middleton, Cecilia Russell, Hayden Claire Russell and Madelyn Russell.

Joining Caillouet on the all-county boys team are Lebanon's Chase Climer, Tayte Reynolds, Rocky Scott and Cayman Weiser; Wilson Central freshman Keivan Aziz; Mt. Juliet's Camden Downes and Daniel Happy and Green Hill's Maddox Hardin, Maben Morey, Jonah Parker and David Winsinger.
