No. 5 seed MSU opened the tournament against No. 12 seed Ole Miss on Tuesday, and the rivalry delivered yet again. Bulldogs starter Brooks Auger and Rebels starter Riley Maddox dueled. Will Furniss' solo shot in the fifth inning against Auger was the only run allowed going into the ninth.

However, down to its final out, Mississippi State brought heroics to Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. With David Mershon on third base, Connor Hujsak launched a two-run home run to secure a stunning victory for the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State now faces one of the nation's top teams. The Bulldogs (37-19) and Aggies (44-11) met in College State, Texas, in late March when A&M took two of the three games.
