Military Appreciation Weekend on tap for South Bend Cubs homestand

After two weeks on the road, the South Bend Cubs return for a six-game homestand against the Dayton Dragons Tuesday in High A Midwest League minor league baseball.

The Memorial Day weekend will include Military Appreciation weekend when all military personnel, active duty and veterans, will receive two free tickets to the games on Saturday and Sunday.

Opening night at Four Winds Field hits all the right notes for South Bend Cubs

All homestand games take place at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South Street, South Bend. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthBendCubs.com or by calling the Box Office at 574-235-9988.

Tuesday's game (6:05 p.m.) is Tail Waggin and Triple Play Tuesday. Fans can bring their dog to the ballpark and for $13, can purchase a game ticket, hot dog and 24-ounce soda pop. Those tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.

Wednesday has an early 11:05 a.m. start time.

Game-by-game promotions for the 2023 South Bend Cubs schedule

On Thirsty Thursday (7:05 p.m.), fans can enjoy $2 fountain drinks and 16-ounce domestic beer. It is also Silver Hawks Throwback night as the Cubs turn back the clock and play as the South Bend Silver Hawks.

Friday (7:05) will include post-game fireworks. It is also Los Cabritos Maldichos (COPA) Day, honoring Latino players and the Latino community.

Saturday (4:05) is Spin to Win Saturday. Nine contestants get a chance to spin a wheel for prizes.

Another popular event coming up for South Bend is Teacher Appreciation Night on June 7. Teachers and administrators from around the Michiana area can receive two complimentary tickets for the game against the Lansing Lugnuts at 7:05 p.m. with post-game fireworks following the contest.

Administrators and teachers can pick up their tickets by showing school I.D. at the box office. Additionally, the first 250 tickets claimed will include a two-hour all-you-can-eat rooftop buffet.

The Cubs, at 22-17, are just a half game out of first place in the Midwest League West Division. Dayton, at 17-22, sits near the bottom of the East Division in fifth place.

Outfielder Kevin Alcantara has 21 hits in 32 games for the Cubs, including eight doubles and three home runs for 21 RBI. Fabian Pertuz 19 hits and 19 RBI while Yohendrick Pinango has 18 hits and 18 RBIs. Pertzu leads with 11 stolen bases and Alcantara had 10.
