CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: Miguel Cabrera is one of the greatest hitters to swing a baseball bat of all time and also has been fantasy relevant for a few years. It's weird that those two things correlate, but that's just the way it is.

The latter hasn't been true as of late however, as Cabrera just completed a week where he went 11 for 26, picked up two homers, and put together a slash of 423, 429, 731 that reminded that this is a player who has won two MVPs in his illustrious career. It also pushes the season OPS to seven six 8. And in a year where the offense has been lethargic, that's an OPS plus of 1.31, or well above average. Miguel ranks in the 78th percentile on average exit velocity, and he's barreling the baseball 15.9% of the time, which puts him in the seventh percentile.

It is understandable to be skeptical of Cabrera going forward as a 39-year-old who hasn't hit more than 16 homers or slugged above 450 since 2017, while providing all of one steal in that time frame. But he's swinging the bat well right now. And at the very least, he's worth some roster consideration in deeper formats. It's pretty fun to see really.
