Michigan women's basketball bounced from Big Ten tournament in loss to Northwestern, 65-49
Naz Hillmon notched 26 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn't enough for Michigan women's basketball, which lost to Northwestern in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals, 65-49, on Thursday in Indianapolis.
Hillmon, the Big Ten Player of the Year, was 10-for-19 from the field but her teammates were just 9-for-46 shooting (20%). Leigha Brown added 10 points.
After ending the first half tied, 30-30, Michigan was outscored, 16-8, in the third quarter, missing eight of its first nine shots after the break.
Northwestern's Veronica Burton also had a double-double, with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Lindsey Pulliam added 18 points as the Wildcats (16-7) advance to play Maryland, the top seed in the tournament, on Friday.
The Wolverines (14-6) is projected to a 5-seed in the NCAA tournament by ESPN. The bracket pairings will be announced Monday.
