Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara: ‘We’re looking to take advantage of Ohio State.’

It seems every year a Michigan player adds some sort of quote to rile up an Ohio State program that’s had the Wolverines’ number for almost two decades now. Since it’s “The Game” week, we’ve been waiting for something to hit the news cycle, and sure enough, just like the schedule of the tides, it was inevitable. This time, it comes from Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara when he was discussing what he saw from the Ohio State defense on film.

While appearing with Jon Jansen on the ‘Inside Michigan Football’ radio show, McNamara was a confident guy, providing plenty of confidence in his team, coaches, and individual players heading into the top-ten matchup with Ohio State. One that has Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff implications at stake.

But it was one quote in particular that has gotten the ire of Ohio State players and fans. When asked about the OSU defense that has seemed to turn things around from some unquestionable play early in the season, McNamara wasn’t concerned. Apparently, not in the least.

“I wouldn’t say I’m very concerned about anything,” McNamara said. “I’d say we’re looking to take advantage of Ohio State. As the week progresses, we’re gonna find ways to do that. I know this offense is going to be very confident going into this game.”

OK. You heard it. Maybe McNamara didn’t mean to come off as cocky or arrogant against a team that’s been so dominant over the Wolverines over the years, but that’s exactly the way it came off. The Michigan players and coaches should have learned by now not to poke the bear, but here it is. Once again.

You can bet that McNamara’s quote will be plastered all over the Woody for the defensive coaches and players to look at.
