Michael Penix Jr. ‘looks good’ in first snaps with Falcons

Yahoo Sports’ Jay Busbee reports from Falcons camp as the former Washington Huskies quarterback enters a strange situation in Atlanta.

Video Transcript

Michael Pennix Junior doesn't have a place to live yet in Atlanta and he doesn't have a place to fish yet either, but he does have his playbook and he's working his way through that right now.

The Falcon's first round draft pick took his first snaps as a member of the team on Friday and he looked good considering the fact that he wasn't facing any kind of pass rush, but he's in the strangest quarterback situation in the NFL, a first round draft pick with starting talent who's nonetheless gonna be backing up the $100 million quarterback in Kirk Cousins that Atlanta signed just before the draft.

It's an odd situation.

Pennix is trying to make the best of it.

He's stressing that he's part of the team that he's learning and that he wants to be in the league.

As long as Kirk Cousins has been.

It's an odd way for the, the Falcons to go to the 24 the 2024 season.

But considering the fact that this is a team that hasn't made the playoffs in the past six seasons, only the Jets and the Broncos have longer playoff droughts.

Atlanta needed to make a big move.

And this is definitely it from Falcons Camp Jay Buzzy Yahoo Sports.
