Who is starting for the Mets?

Max Scherzer, who is coming off a solid outing against the Washington Nationals his last time out. After having his start pushed back due to neck spasms, Scherzer allowed one earned run over 5.0 innings, striking out six and walking two. Perhaps most importantly, he came out of the game feeling healthy.

Overall, it's been a strange season for Scherzer due to injuries and a suspension. Over his six starts, he's pitched to a 4.88 ERA and 5.65 FIP.

Who is starting for the Guardians?

RHP Tanner Bibee, who is making just the fifth start of his major league career.

The 24-year-old rookie is coming off of a dazzling performance against the Los Angeles Angels his last time out, when he went 7.2 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits to go along with seven strikeouts.

Upcoming schedule

The Mets and Guardians play the second game of their split doubleheader on Sunday night at 7:10 p.m.

It will be a matchup of Cy Young winners, as Justin Verlander faces Shane Bieber.
