Mets manager Carlos Mendoza reveals Francisco Alvarez surgery, talks another Mets win over LA

Francisco Alvarez will be sidelined indefinitely according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza because the torn ligament in his thumb will require surgery. Mendoza is confident that Alvarez will return this season. As for the 6-4 win over the Dodgers on Saturday, Mendoza explained his decision to bring in Edwin Diaz to face the heart of the the Dodgers lineup in the eighth inning. He also complimented Reed Garrett for shutting down LA in the ninth inning. The Mets manager felt it was a great team win from "top to bottom."
