Memphis Grizzlies draft Tarik Biberovic with 56th pick in the second round of the NBA Draft

The Memphis Grizzlies selected Tarik Biberovic with the 56th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Biberovic is a 22-year-old 6-foot-7 forward from Turkey who will be a draft-and-stash player, according to ESPN. He played in the Euroleague, which is regarded as arguably the best league outside of the NBA. In 12 games with Fenerbahce Beko Instanbul, he averaged 2.9 points. Identifying a draft-and-stash player allows the Grizzlies to keep their roster flexibility heading into free agency.

The Grizzlies entered Thursday with 14 players on standard contracts and two on two-way deals. The new collective bargaining agreement will allow teams to keep three two-way players. Even if the Grizzlies sign more than 15 players, they don't have to finalize the roster until shortly before the beginning of the season.
