Memphis football hires two-time Super Bowl champion David Diehl as offensive analyst

Memphis football added more NFL experience to its staff by hiring former New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl as an offensive analyst.

Diehl, who won Super Bowl championships in 2007 and 2011, made his announcement on Instagram. This is his first coaching job after playing 11 seasons with the Giants before retiring in 2013.

Diehl was a fifth-round draft pick in 2003 out of Illinois and was named to the All-Pro Second Team in 2008. He also played in the 2009 Pro Bowl and started 160 of 164 games in his career.

After he retired, Diehl worked for Fox as a color analyst for NFL games from 2014-17. He later worked for CBS Sports as a college football analyst.

The Tigers are no strangers to hiring former NFL players as analysts or quality control coaches. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Alan Cross, a Memphis alum, was a quality control coach last season after he was first hired as a graduate assistant in 2019.
