Memphis area's high school volleyball top players at midseason

With the 2023 Tennessee and Mississippi high school volleyball season reaching the midway point, several players have stood out in the Memphis area.

Here's a list of some of the top names through the first half who could be player of the year candidates when the season comes to a close.

Campbell Funk, Arlington: Funk, a junior, has 179 kills, 195 digs and 250 assists.

Addy Harris, Arlington: Harris, a freshman outside hitter, has registered double-digit kills in nine matches for the Tigers, and 194 kills on the season.

Gailey Laster, Briarcrest: Laster, a junior outside hitter, averages 3.53 kills per set for the 19-win Saints.

Sarah O’Connor, Briarcrest: O’Connor, a sophomore setter, averages 10.32 assists per set and leads the Saints with 32 aces.

Bella Sherrod, Briarcrest: Sherrod, a senior outside hitter, averages 3.67 digs and 2.67 kills per set to go along with a .243 hitting percentage.

Addie Kidd, Brighton: Kidd, a senior middle hitter, has 163 kills, 186 digs, 42 aces and 15 blocks.

Maeve Allen, Collierville: Allen, a junior libero, has 176 digs, 54 assists and 23 aces.

Chase Burdette, Collierville: Burdette, a junior outside hitter, has 145 digs, 115 kills and 36 aces.

Brynne Krangnes, Collierville: Krangnes, a junior setter, has 320 assists, 124 digs and 30 aces for the Dragons.

Campbell McKinnon, Collierville: McKinnon, a Villanova commitment, has 215 kills, 37 blocks, 51 digs and a .484 hitting percentage.

Reese McIntosh, DeSoto Central: McIntosh, a junior outside hitter, has 160 digs, 159 kills and 21 aces for the 18-win Jaguars.

Kasey Scruggs, DeSoto Central: Scruggs, a senior outside hitter, has 202 kills, 102 digs, 37 aces and 15 blocks for the Jaguars.

Sydney Tague, DeSoto Central: Tague, a junior setter, has 581 assists, 113 digs, 58 aces and 50 kills.

Carley Brock, ECS: Brock, a senior setter, has averaged 26 assists a match for the Eagles.

Kate Kizer, ECS: Kizer, a sophomore outside hitter, is averaging 16.2 kills per match.

Sydnee Carter, Houston: Carter, a junior setter, has 391 assists, 82 digs, 43 kills and 25 aces for the 14-win Mustangs.

Sydni Vice, Houston: Vice, a sophomore outside hitter, has 134 kills, 94 digs and 15 blocks for the Mustangs.

Sofia Gonzalez, Lake Cormorant: Gonzalez, a sophomore outside hitter, has 335 kills, 287 digs, 51 aces and 13 blocks for the Gators.

Jania Rose, Lake Cormorant: Jania Rose, a junior libero, has 68 aces and leads the Gators with 336 digs.

Dallas White, Lake Cormorant: White, a junior setter, has 629 assists, 195 digs and 27 aces for the 20-win Gators.

Ella Burd, Lakeland Prep: Burd, a sophomore libero, had a season-best 34 digs in a 3-2 loss to St. Benedict on Sept. 14, giving her a total of 116 this year.

Reese Trusty, Lausanne: Trusty, a senior setter and five-year starter for the Lynx, has 177 assists, 54 digs and 24 aces.

Jayda Bradley, Lewisburg: Bradley, a senior outside hitter, has 182 kills, 120 digs, 54 aces and 10 blocks for the 17-win Patriots.

Ella Grace Holloway, Lewisburg: Holloway, a High Point commitment, leads the Patriots with 200 kills and has 52 digs, 21 blocks and 11 aces.

Claire Smith, Lewisburg: Smith, a junior setter, has 528 assists, 141 digs, 34 aces and 11 blocks.

Dahja Fletcher, MASE: Fletcher, a sophomore, has 105 kills, 65 assists, 64 aces and 50 digs for the Phoenix.

Hassie Clare Thurman, Northpoint: Thurman, a junior, has 161 digs and 34 aces for the Trojans.

Quinn Thurman, Northpoint: Thurman, a junior outside hitter, averages 4.4 kills per set, and has 165 digs and 42 aces.

Emily Farm, St. Agnes: Farm, a member of The CA’s All-Metro team last season with more than 300 kills and 400 digs, has guided the Stars to a 16-7 record.

Kayleigh Ryan, St. Agnes: Ryan, a senior, leads her team in assists and helped the Stars defeat division rival Briarcrest, 3-1, on Sept. 5.

Ellie Cheseldine, St. Benedict: Cheseldine has 283 assists, 53 kills and 26 aces for the Eagles.

Natalie Lively, St. Benedict: Lively is one of the state’s top leaders with 287 digs and has 27 aces.

Reese Regner, St. George’s: Regner, a senior setter, has 226 assists, 33 kills and 18 aces for the Gryphons.

Carroline Robinson, St. Mary’s: Robinson is a top weapon for the Turkeys with 203 kills, 206 digs, 33 aces and 12 solo blocks.

Brooke Harrison, Tipton-Rosemark Academy: Harrison, a senior libero, is tops on the Rebels with 121 digs.

Lydia Harvey, Tipton-Rosemark Academy: Harvey, a senior outside hitter, leads the Rebels with 149 kills.

Alaya Rhodes, White Station: Rhodes, a senior outside hitter, had 170 kills, 152 digs and 28 aces for the Spartans.
