Which local flag football teams claimed district championships?

Class 1A

District 23: Pahokee

The Muck ran flag football, too, this week. Pahokee claimed the title over Oxbridge Academy in a 20-7 victory on Thursday after smashing Inlet Grove 37-6 in the semifinals.

Seventh grader Khaliyah Robinson quarterbacked the Blue Devils with two passing touchdowns to fellow seventh grader Fra'Niyah Washington while leading her team with 109 rushing yards. Three interceptions, highlighted by a pick six, from seventh grader Kelaijah McNeal and a team-high six flag pulls by junior Talyn Phillips propelled Pahokee on defense.

District 24: Somerset Academy-Canyons

A 53-0 shutout of Glades Central in the semifinals gave the Cougars the opportunity to chase their second consecutive district championship. With a 20-6 defeat of Dr. Joaquin Garcia, Somerset claimed the title.

Freshman quarterback Ava Wotipka posted 181 all-purpose yards and two passing touchdowns. Dominating both sides of the ball, fellow freshman Delanie Doty added five flag pulls and a 21-yard pick six on defense and four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown on offense.

Class 2A

District 20: Martin County

Martin County junior quarterback Calista Scornavacca's 201 yards and two touchdowns were too much for Palm Beach Gardens and more than enough for a 27-0 district title win.

The Gators made it to the title matchup with a 24-0 shutout of South Fork on Tuesday.

District 21: Seminole Ridge

Wellington, Seminole Ridge, Palm Beach Central and Royal Palm Beach flag football teams take part in district semifinal competition on Feb. 9, 2024.

If any team was going to pull off a district championship upset, it was Seminole Ridge. Top-seeded Wellington denied the Hawks the title last spring, but Ridge got its revenge with a thrilling 12-0 win on Thursday.

District 22: Park Vista

The Cobras are district champs once again with a 24-12 victory over Forest Hill. Park Vista's offense is still lights out as ever, proven by 26 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns by sophomore quarterback Jordana Weil.

Juniors Dylan Monaco and Zahra Fazal found the end zone, along with seniors Emily Butler and Saniya Frazier, who led their squad with 125 yards and 93 yards, respectively. Frazier also helped Vista keep control of the game with three interceptions for 27 yards on defense.

District 23: Spanish River

The River has run deep from fall to spring.

A 32-7 win over Atlantic saw the Sharks take the ship as sophomore quarterback Brooke Eriksson delivered a 315-yard performance, completing 83.3% of passes (25-for-30) for five touchdowns. Junior Littiana Dasilva overwhelmed the stat sheet with 130 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches, along with a team-high five flag pulls and two interceptions on defense.

Although Atlantic fell, reaching the title matchup was quite the milestone in the Eagles' turnaround season. After a 7-6 exit in the quarterfinals to West Boca Raton in 2023, finishing the season 6-8, the 9-6 Eagles advanced this season with a 13-6 defeat of the Bulls. Basketball star Elanie Sullard made an impact on the field, too, with a pair of touchdown catches, flag pulls and interceptions.
