Meet the 2023 All-Spartanburg high school track and field teams, athletes of the year
Here are the All-Spartanburg area high school boys and girls track and field first teams, along with The Spartanburg Herald-Journal Boys and Girls Track and Field Athletes of the Year for the 2023 season.
Includes athletes from Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties. Statistics were submitted by coaches or found online on Athletic.net or SCRunners.

Bryson Miller
Dorman | Senior
Event: 200, 400-meter dash
Miller, an Oklahoma signee, won his second straight 400 state championship this season while finishing second in the 200 and third in the 100. He also posted the fastest 400 time in South Carolina with a 46.05 — that slated him as the seventh fastest 400 sprinter in the country this year.

Carlmelo Martin
Boiling Springs | Senior
Event: 100-meter dash
Martin, an East Carolina signee, won the Region 2-AAAAA title and finished second in Class AAAAA Upper State and State championship meets.
Knox Eaton
Spartanburg | Sophomore
Event: 800
Eaton finished second in the Region 2-AAAAA and Class AAAAA state championships and won the AAAAA Upper State championship.
Elias Workman
Dorman | Senior
Event: 1600
Workman won the Region 2-AAAAA and Class AAAAA Upper State championships and finished seventh at the AAAAA state championship.
Andrew Cleland
Dorman | Sophomore
Event: 3200
Cleland won the Region 2-AAAAA title, finished fourth at Class AAAAA Upper State, and fifth at AAAAA state championships.
Christian Roberts

Event: 110, 400 hurdles
Roberts won the Region 2-AAAAA title in both the 110 and 400 hurdles, finished second in the 400 and third in the 110 at the AAAAA Upper State meet, and fourth in the 400 at state championships.

Serghei Ungurean
Woodruff | Senior
Event: discus, shot put
Ungurean won the Region 4-AAA title in the shot put and discus, finished second in the discus at the AAA Upper State championship, and third in the discus and fifth in the shot put at the AAA state championships.
Spencer Eison
Boiling Springs | Senior
Event: high jump, triple jump
Eison won the Region 2-AAAAA high jump and triple jump titles and the Class AAAAA state championships in the triple jump.
Cole Johnson
Landrum | Senior
Event: javelin
Johnson completed his second straight sweep of the Class AA javelin state, Upper State, and Region 1-AA championships.
Micah Harris
Spartanburg | Senior
Event: long jump
Harris was dominant this season winning eight of the nine long jump events he competed in, including the Region 2-AAAAA and Class AAAAA state championships. He also won the long jump at the Adidas Outdoor Nationals.
Taylor Dunning
Chapman | Junior
Event: pole vault
Dunning won his third straight Region 3-AAA pole vault title, finished third in the Class AAA Upper State meet, and eighth at states.

Abrianna Parks
Byrnes | Freshman
Event: discus, shot put
Across the discus, shot put and javelin events, Parks competed 27 times this season, winning 20 times and only finishing outside the podium place once — she finished fourth. She won the Region 2-AAAAA, Class AAAAA Upper State and State championships in the shot put and the discus, while finishing second in the javelin at the state meet and winning the region and Upper State.

Gaffney | Junior
Event: 100, 200
Phillips finished in the top three in each of the five 100 events she ran — winning the Region 2-AAAAA title — and finished in the top eight in each of the four 200 events she ran in, winning the region championship in that event too.
Nia Glover
Spartanburg | Junior
Event: 400
Glover posted the fastest 400 time in the Spartanburg area of 58.77 and won the Region 2-AAAAA championship.
Evelyn Kate Dill
Dorman | 7th Grade
Event: 800
Dill won the Region 2-AAAAA championship and finished 10th at the Upper State while posting the fastest 800 time in the Spartanburg area of 2:24.79.
Julia Williamson
Landrum | Senior
Event: 1600
Williamson had four top-five finishes in 2023, including fourth in the Region 1-AA and Class AA Upper State championships, and fifth at states.
Ella Tombuelt
Dorman | Sophomore
Event: 3200
Tombuelt won the Region 2-AAAAA title and posted the best 3200 time in the Spartanburg area of 11:54.49.
Kennedy Wright
Byrnes | Junior
Event: 100 hurdles
Wright finished in the top two in seven 100 hurdles events this season, winning four of them including the Region 2-AAAAA championship. She also finished second at states.
Rebecca Okebe
Dorman | Freshman
Event: 400 hurdles
Okebe finished top three in six 400 hurdles events this season, winning three of them including the Region 2-AAAAA and Class AAAAA state championships.

Event: high jump
Littlejohn won the region 2-AAAAA title and finished in the top 10 in eight high jump events she competed in.
Sydney Price
Landrum | Junior
Event: javelin
Price won four of the five javelin events she competed in, including her second straight Class AA state championship.
Shamya Wilkins
Broome | Sophomore
Event: long jump, triple jump
Wilkins won the AAA state long jump championship and the Region 3-AAA and Class AAA Upper State triple jump championships, finishing second at states.
Olivia Parker
Spartanburg | Freshman
Event: pole vault
Parker won the Region 2-AAAAA and Class AAAAA Upper State championships, and finished seventh at the AAAAA state meet.
