The 2023 All-Greater Rochester Boys Cross Country Team is revealed

Here is the 2023 All-Greater Rochester Boys Cross Country Team as determined by a vote of Section V coaches with input from Democrat and Chronicle staff.

Runner of the Year

Year: Junior

Parents: Lynne and Andrew Tempest

Key accomplishments: Winning Class B sectionals in a personal best 5K time of 15 minutes, 29 seconds and state Class B title in 16:09.3.

Future plans: To run in college.

Why he's Runner of the Year: The two-time AGR first-teamer made steady progress throughout the regular season, going undefeated in league meets. He set a course record to win the Marcus Whitman Invitational and then swept to three titles in counties, sectionals and states.

Year: Sophomore

Parents: Jennifer and Kevin Bubel

Key accomplishments: Ran 15:44.1 to place fourth at Class A sectionals, helping his team win. Was 24th at states, third sophomore.

Future plans: Undecided.

Year: Senior

Parents: Terri and Rob Dickerson

Key accomplishments: Finished second at Class A sectionals in a personal-best 15:43. Third in varsity AAA race at McQuaid Invitational.

Future plans: Plans to attend Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., to major in ministry and church leadership.

Year: Senior

Parents: Melissa and Brett Domoy

Key accomplishments: Finishing first in 15.27.1 to lead Oakfield-Alabama/Elba to the Class D sectional title. Two-time AGR first-teamer.

Future plans: Possibly major in aerospace engineering.

Year: Senior

Parents: Diana and Brad Fisher

Key accomplishments: Won the varsity AA race in 15:17 as his team placed second at the McQuaid Invitational. Second in A sectionals. Two-time AGR first-teamer.

Future plans: Will attend Canisius and run in its Division I program.

Year: Sophomore

Parents: Jaclyn and John Ford

Key accomplishments: Ran a three-mile 15:30 in the varsity AA race at the McQuaid Invitational. Helped Arkport/Canaseraga/Alfred-Almond win sectionals and competed at the state meet for the third straight year.

Future plans: Uncertain but hope to attend an Ivy League college.

Year: Senior

Parent: Michele Lynn Giglia

Key accomplishments: Placing 15th at Nike Cross regional championship as the lead finisher among Section V runners and fastest Section V runner at states.

Future plans: Will major in finance and accounting at Canisius and run cross country and track and field.

Year: Senior

Parents: Christy and Michael Lesher

Key accomplishments: Ran 15:49 in the Bob Bradley premier race at the three-mile McQuaid Invitational. Eighth at A sectionals in 16:04.1.

Future plans: Attend college for physical therapy, hopefully at the University of Pittsburgh.

Year: Senior

Parents: Elizabeth and Gerald Lewis

Key accomplishments: Finished fifth at Class A sectionals in 15:55, second fastest all-time for a Webster Thomas runner, and 19th at states. Four-time AGR first-teamer.

Future plans: Will attend University at Albany for cross country and track, majoring in biology.

Year: Freshman

Parents: Colleen and Michael Mehan

Key accomplishments: Ran a personal-best 16:00.4 5K, fastest time for a freshman in the state, to finish third in Class B sectionals. Was 21st at states in 16:58.0, and first freshman in his class, third among 469 runners in all classes.

Future plans: Run cross country and track at a Division I college.

Year: Senior

Parents: Amy and Jeff Passalugo

Key accomplishments: Section V Class A champion in a personal-best 15:26.2, four-time AGR first-teamer.

Future plans: Attend Purdue University and will run cross country and track.

Year: Senior

Parents: Jennifer and Paul Sikorski

Key accomplishments: Running a personal-best 15:49.8 5K to finish fifth at the Monroe County Coaches Invitational at Parma Park and 32nd at the Nike Cross regionals.

Future plans: Attend Saint Bonaventure for computer science.

Year: Sophomore

Parents: Erika Duthiers and Christopher Simmons

Key accomplishments: Ran a personal-best 15:39.8 5K to finish second at Class D sectionals. Sixth at states and second sophomore.

Future plans: Increase mileage during winter track season and aim for a sub-4:20 mile. Also hope to run in college.

Year: Senior

Parents: Carrie and Matthew Tette

Key accomplishments: Sectional and state Class C champion. Four-time AGR first-teamer, all in cross country.

Future plans: Attend a four-year university for biological medical science.

Year: Senior

Parents: Andrea and Tom Wescott

Key accomplishments: Place seventh in Class A sectionals in 15:51.7. Two-time AGR first-teamer.

Future plans: Attend Alfred State College in the fall.

Coach of the Year

Profession: Senior Network Technician in Fairport Central School District

Varsity coaching experience: Fairport (2009 to 2017), Pittsford Sutherland (2018 to present).

Family: Jennifer Spitzer (wife); Amelia Rappleyea (daughter), Jack Jones (son).
