Meet the 2023 All-Anderson/Pickens counties high school baseball teams, player of the year

High school baseball in Anderson and Pickens counties was a solid hit in 2023.

Belton-Honea Path won its district championship in Class AAA, made the Upper State semifinals and finished ranked No. 10 in the state by Max Preps.

That classification had five other Anderson/Pickens area schools among the top 25. Wren was No. 13, Crescent was 15, Powdersville 18, Palmetto 19 and Daniel 24.

In Class AAAAA, T.L. Hanna also won a district championship and reached the Upper State semifinals.

These are some of the top individuals from Anderson and Pickens. Statistics were gathered from Max Preps, The Diamond Prospects and coaches. Honorees are listed in alphabetical order.

Here are the 2023 All-Anderson/Pickens High School Baseball Teams:

All-Anderson/Pickens Baseball Player of Year

Brody Linker

Crescent | Jr.

Why chosen: Linker, a Class AAA all-state selection, was Crescent’s ace pitcher and also leading hitter. He went 6-0 on the mound with a 1.23 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 45⅔ innings, allowing just 27 hits. At the plate, he hit .432.

All-Anderson/Pickens Baseball First Team

Judd Ellison

Wren | Sr.

Why chosen: Ellison was all-region, all-state and made the North/South All-Star Game as a pitcher. He was 5-1 with a 2.65 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 37⅓ innings.

Eli Hudgins

Powdersville | Jr.

Why chosen: Hudgins hit .400 in 85 at-bats. He also pitched 29⅓ innings with 38 strikeouts and a 3,06 ERA with two wins.

Seth Manning 

T.L. Hanna | So.

Why chosen: Manning went 4-1 on the mound with a 2.18 ERA. In 41⅓ innings, he allowed only 17 hits and struck out 50.

Lane McGaha

Belton-Honea Path | So.

Why chosen: McGaha was all-state in Class AAA and region player of the year. He batted .444 with four homers and 27 RBIs, He also pitched 51⅓ innings with a 2.03 ERA.

Carson Roberts

Crescent | Jr.

Why chosen: Roberts went 8-0 with a 1.86 ERA. In 49 innings, he allowed just 33 hits and struck out 63.

Jackson Robinson

T.L. Hanna | Fr.

Why chosen: Robinson pitched 59⅓ innings with a 5-2 record and a 1.53 ERA. He struck out 58 and walked just 18. He was named region player of the year.

Matthew Slaton

Pendleton | Sr.

Why chosen: Slaton hit .407 in 81 at-bats with five homers and 31 RBIs.

Braden Williams

Powdersville | Jr.

Why chosen: Williams hit .410 in 100 at-bats as one of the team’s top hitters.

Cody Wilson

Wren | Sr.

Why chosen: Wilson was all-region, all-state and made the North/South All-Star Game. He batted .514 with 25 RBIs and struck out just five times in 72 at-bats with 20 walks.
