The Upstate enjoyed an outstanding competitive cheer season during the 2023-24 school year, winning one SCHSL state championship and having five other programs finish in the top four of the four classifications.

Palmetto won the Class AAA championship, edging Anderson County rival Belton-Honea Path by one point.

Here are the members of the 2023-24 All-Upstate Competitive Cheer team, nominated by their coaches.

Competitive Cheer Athlete of the Year

Isabelle McKee, Palmetto, Sr.

McKee, a six-year member of the Palmetto varsity competitive cheer squad, led the Mustangs to their first state championship since 2018. During her career, she competed as a flyer, main base, side base and backspot and is a four-time All-Region 2-AAA selection.

Palmetto coach Jamie Newsome said McKee was an integral part of the team's championship drive.

"Belle leads the team by example," Newsome said, "both on and off the mat with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and unwavering enthusiasm and dedication to her team and sport."
