McCallum basketball's Emy Chen voted Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week
McCallum basketball player Emy Chen, whose 19 points and seven rebounds helped the Knights beat second-place Navarro 47-42 in a key District 24-5A game on Jan. 19, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for Jan. 15-20.
Chen received more than 86% of the vote. Glenn's Libby Lee won the poll for Jan. 8-13.
Lake Travis soccer player Amelia Clark, Round Rock basketball player Gabby Edo, St. Michael's soccer player Lauren Hill and Pflugerville basketball player Jem Yowa also were candidates.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
