Matt Eberflus says Bears QB Justin Fields is ‘day to day’ with left shoulder injury

The Bears lost their fourth straight game in a 27-24 defeat to the Falcons, but it’s the health status of quarterback Justin Fields that’s been the biggest storyline to come out of the game.

Fields suffered a left shoulder injury on the final drive of Sunday’s loss. On a designed QB run, Fields landed on his left shoulder after getting tackled on his way out of bounds. Fields remained on the ground for a moment, in noticeable pain, before returning to the field to finish the game.

On Monday, Bears coach Matt Eberflus wouldn’t discuss details of Fields’ injury, but he said he’s considered “day to day.”

But Eberflus also wouldn’t rule out the possibility of it being a season-ending injury for Fields, which is quite the discrepancy. Basically, Eberflus is going to wait until Wednesday to divulge any updates.

Following the game, Fields met with reporters, where he noted the pain was “pretty bad.”

Whether this is is an injury that keeps Fields out for a short while, the rest of the season remains or not at all remains to be seen. But Eberflus did promise an update on Wednesday.

And we should have an inkling of Fields’ availability for this week if he meets with the media during his scheduled Wednesday press conference.
