Wesley Matthews signs with Atlanta Hawks, ending second stint with Bucks
Wesley Matthews has never given an indication that he was ready to be done playing basketball, and the Marquette University alumnus has prided himself on being able to keep up with opponents nearly half his age. Matthews will continue to do that in the 2023-24 NBA season, as he will play with the Atlanta Hawks.
Matthews, who will turn 37 on Oct. 14, signed a one-year deal with the Hawks. ESPN reported the deal.
Matthews, who grew up in Madison before attending Marquette, spent the last two seasons and three of his last four with the Milwaukee Bucks. He played 52 games last season, shooting 31.5% from behind the three-point line in just under 16 minutes per game. He was injured in the Bucks' playoff loss to Miami, but when healthy proved to be an effective defender on Heat star Jimmy Butler.
This will be Matthews' 15th season in the NBA, and the Hawks will be his eighth team.
