Manchester City will be playing against Brentford in an English Premier League game on Tuesday. With 53 points, City currently occupies the third spot on the EPL table. A win in this match would narrow the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool, who currently hold the top spot with 57 points.

Manchester City had a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium in their last EPL match. Chelsea's Raheem Sterling scored the first goal of the match before halftime, but Rodri managed to equalize for Manchester City in the 83rd minute. Despite having nine of the 31 shots on goal from City, Erling Haaland, the top scorer in the English Premier League, was unable to net a goal.

Brentford experienced a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah making a remarkable comeback by scoring a goal and providing an assist. Ivan Toney of Brentford managed to score one goal for his side, but it wasn't enough to prevent Cody Gakpo of Liverpool from sealing the win by scoring the fourth goal.

Brentford currently sits at the 14th spot on the English Premier League standings with 25 points.

Manchester City vs. Brentford predictions

The Independent: Manchester City to win

Staff writes: "Erling Haaland had a rare off day against Chelsea. In another game, the Norway international could have had a hat-trick - but his scoring touch deserted him. Haaland remains the favourite with betting sites to win the Golden Boot, but Mohamed Salah is applying pressure on the City striker. It is hard to imagine City passing up as many openings on this occasion. For one, Brentford’s defence has looked shaky of late."

The Mirror: City are expected to overpower the Bees

Staff writes: "After dropping points against Chelsea, Manchester City face Brentford at the Etihad. Guardiola's side are looking to close the gap at the top of the Premier League to just one point behind Liverpool, who play Luton at home the next day. Brentford, who suffered a defeat 4-1 against Liverpool at the weekend, rely so heavily on Ivan Toney's scoring prowess. However, just a few weeks on from Phil Foden’s hat-trick against Brentford at the Gtech, City are expected to overpower the Bees once again."

Goal.com: Haaland has a point to prove

Tom Fuller writes: "No one will know better than Erling Haaland that he should have buried at least one of the chances his team-mates provided for him on Saturday and it may not take him long to make amends. Haaland is only 15/8 to score two or more goals in the match, so preference is to take the 2/1 for him to be the first goalscorer in the game, which provides a larger return and requires him to score only one goal. The Norwegian is one ahead of Mo Salah in the Premier League goal stats and has a great chance to extend his advantage."
