Malcolm Brogdon: ‘I think we have a really good shot’ to win Banner 18

Even with longtime Boston Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman trying his best to temper expectations on a recent radio hit, you won’t find veteran Celtics floor general Malcolm Brogdon shrinking from a bold claim about Boston’s postseason ceiling, who recently suggested winning it all in 2023 is the only goal the Celtics care about this season on an episode of ESPN’s “NBA Today“. “That’s our goal,” he suggested.

“That’s the expectation – make it to the finals, to win a championship this year, to get Banner 18 for this organization,” suggested the Virginia alum in the interview. “I really believe we have the talent, I think we have the coaching.”

“And I think at this point, this team has the experience, so I think we have a really good shot,” he added.

Describing the Celtics as “a team that’s coming off of a finals run that’s very solidified” where “the guys know their roles” and the roster “a well-oiled machine,” Brogdon is in as good a position as he has ever been to make such a bold prediction into a reality.

But first, the Celtics need to get back to the NBA Finals this season — and get the best possible seeding they can with the rest of the 2022-23 regular season to make it as smooth sailing as is possible.
