MINTY BETS: UFC 257 takes place January 23rd on Fight Island. The main event is going to be a light weight bout between Conor McGregor, minus 275, versus Dustin Poirier, plus 225. Kevin Iole, this should be exciting. What do we think of this fight?
KEVIN IOLE: I'll tell you what, I think this is a fantastic fight. Obviously, a very important fight in the division. You got Poirier, a former interim champion, lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Conor, the former champion who also lost to Khabib. I think this is a fantastic fight. It-- to me, it is a very, very close fight.
You know, I kind of lean toward McGregor to win, but I like getting Dustin Poirier a plus 225. I mean, he is a very diverse fighter. He's fought so many good opponents.
And so, I look at it and I go, if I was just betting on the money line, picking a winner, I'm going to pick McGregor to win. But at that plus 225 number, I really like Dustin Poirier. So, I'm going to go ahead and bet on Dustin Poirier here at plus 225 to win UFC 257.
MINTY BETS: Have any thoughts on if it goes the distance or not?
KEVIN IOLE: I do think it's probably likely, more likely than not it goes to distance. You know, McGregor has that kind of punching power that could end a fight at any point. You know, Poirier is also a tremendous finisher, but he doesn't have that one-punch power. McGregor has it both with his hands and with his kicks.
And of course, he won their first fight when they fought in 2014 by a finish. I think both of them are different fighters now. I think Poirier has really made a lot of strides. I think this one will go to the decision and won't be a finish, but I'll tell you, either of them has the ability to end it.
