Mad Bets: Lakers -13 lost a lot of people money

Minty Bets recaps the biggest winners and losers of the sports betting world from this past week.

Video Transcript

MINTY BETS: For the first time in a long time, we had a weekend full of every sport possible-- NBA and NHL playoffs, MLB match-ups, and even some college football action. With more to bet on means more ways to win and, well, lose. Here are some of this week's top three winners and losers for the sports betting world.

Number three, unfortunately, starts out with a loser. And that is anyone who bet on Anthony Smith to beat Aleksandar Rakic at UFC Fight Night. This week, my friend, Gianni the Greek, said you should only bet on Anthony Smith at plus 250, if you thought he could win the fight three times out of 10.

After watching that fight, I don't think Smith would win three out of 100. Rakic won all three rounds easily. But Smith backers probably turned it off after the first.

Number two winners of the week are Lakers fans, who enjoyed watching the Lakers win by 9 against the Blazers and advance to the Finals. The losers of the week are the 85% of bettors who took the Lakers minus 13. Yeah, 85%. Even without Lillard, the Blazers kept this one close and were able to get the backdoor cover in the end.

Our number one winners of the week are anyone and everyone who loves college football because the game is back. This season started out with a bang, as the first play went for a 75-yard touchdown. Everyone was excited except for Central Arkansas backers, who decided to lay 5 points.

That was until the Bears drove down the field with a minute remaining to not only take the lead, but also get a 2-point conversion to win by 7. Hopefully, you were one of the winners this week. And if not, there's always next week.
