LSU coach Brian Kelly 'really surprised' fans stormed field after win over Ole Miss

BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU football coach Brian Kelly "was really surprised" when he realized that LSU fans were storming the field at Tiger Stadium following the Tigers' 40-25 upset win over then-No. 7 Mississippi last Saturday.

LSU was fined $250,000 by the SEC on Sunday for its third field-storming offense.

"I didn't expect it. I was doing an interview and the state police grabbed me and said 'we gotta go.' And I was like 'I didn't think the interview was that bad?' " Kelly joked to the media on Tuesday. "It didn't appear to me that there was anything in my mind that this would be a game where we would storm the field. But hey, let's do more of it."

Kelly then quickly tried to take back his remark in fear of being reprimanded by SEC commissioner Greg Sankey for potentially encouraging future field storming.

"I don't mean to do it. I mean let's win more," Kelly clarified.
