Lowndes gears up for region duals

Jan. 13—VALDOSTA — Lowndes High School wrestlers are gearing up for the Georgia High School Association Region 1-7A dual championships on Jan. 13th at Camden High School in Kingsland.

Valdosta will be at the tournament as well, along with Camden, Colquitt County and Richmond Hill.

In the Colquitt County Packer Duals in Moultrie, the Lowndes High School wrestling team took on Chiles High School from Tallahassee, Florida, Thomas County Central of Thomasville, and Tift County High School from Tifton. In a face-off with Chiles, Noah Scott (113 pounds), William Hasty (126), Ian Stephens (144), Ethan Robinette (165), John Browning (190), and Jordan Oladokun (285) won by fall, and Dallas Edwards (285) won by a decision 3-0. Lowndes took the competition with a score of 39-31.

Lowndes took a backseat to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets as Wade Clark (132), Ean O'Neal (113), Logan Ward (175), and Dean Rollins (144) all earned 6 points of the team score in wins by fall over the Vikings. The performances inched Thomas County Central over the Vikings and they took the match 39-36.

Tift County High School served the Vikings their second loss of the day (41-24) by prevailing in nine of the 14 matches, but the Vikings Scott (106), Hasty (113), and Ian Stephens (138) handled their Blue Devil counterparts with wins by fall. William Fetters (175) won by a 3-2 decision, and Dallas Edwards (285) triumphed over Tift County's Nathan Vicars with a 5-4 decision.
