Louisiana softball adds St. Thomas' Brooke Ellestad from transfer portal

While plenty of power returns to Louisiana softball's lineup, it still was in need of some more juice for the 2024 season.

Ragin' Cajuns coach Gerry Glasco and his staff dipped into the transfer portal and landed St. Thomas sensational freshman infielder Brooke Ellestad, she announced via her Twitter page Wednesday.

She comes to Lafayette with two years of eligibility remaining.

Ellestad, a native of Kimberly, Wisconsin, was not only St. Thomas' best hitter for the 2023 season but the lefty also led the Summit League in most offensive categories including batting average (.384), slugging percentage (.629), on-base plus slugging (1.079), hits (58), RBIs (37) and doubles (15).

Those numbers would've stacked up nicely with UL's lineup as her average and double total would've topped the offense, while her slugging percentage would've been fourth on the team behind the Cajun's power hitters in Karly Heath, Lauren Allred and Laney Credeur.
