A look at the Lenawee County Athletes of the Week for May 20-25
The Lenawee County high school sports season is closing fast and athletes across the county are stepping up.
Here's a look at the Lenawee County Athlete of the Week nominees for May 20-25. Voting can be done at https://poll.fm/13815773.
Tatum Borton, Adrian soccer
Borton led the Maples to a shutout win against Ypsilanti after capping the regular season with a win at Coldwater.
Borton scored 10 goals and assisted on another, including six goals against the Grizzlies in district play.
Bella Treloar, Blissfield softball
Treloar had a tremendous week for the Royals, tossing 16.2 innings and giving up an unearned run, on three hits and eight walks while striking out 43.
At the plate, Treloar had nine hits with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and nine runs.
Logan Shiels, Britton Deerfield baseball
Shiels had five hits with a triple and two doubles, two RBIs and four runs to help the Patriots to a couple of wins to finish the regular season.
He also picked up a win on the mound, tossing four shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out five.
Kendall Phillip, Clinton softball
Phillip helped lead the Redwolves to another LCAA title and the Reese Invite title as she tossed 19 innings and gave up two runs, on eight hits and four walks while striking out 38.
She had 11 hits at the plate with a home run, triple and three doubles while driving in six runs.
Nik Shadley, Clinton baseball
Shadley had a strong week at the plate and on the bases as he helped the Redwolves finish the season strong.
Shadley had 10 hits with a triple, three doubles, nine RBIs, 11 runs and stole 11 bases.
Taylor Kopin, Hudson softball
Kopin continued to bring the power to the Tigers lineup with another strong week.
Kopin had 11 hits with two home runs, two doubles, eight RBIs and 10 runs.
Callie Anderson, Lenawee Christian soccer
Anderson led the Cougars to a win to end the regular season and begin the Division 4 district tournament in a double overtime win.
Anderson had five goals in the two games and added two assists.
Jillian Kendrick, Madison track
Kendrick led the Trojans to the LCAA title in their first season in the league and also a third-place finish at the Division 3 MITCA meet.
Kendrick won the MITCA state title in the 100-meter dash and also won the 100 at the LCAA meet. She was also part of the LCAA title 4x100 and 4x200 teams while taking second at the MITCA meet in the 200, 4x100 and 4x400.
Brian Dopp, Madison baseball
Dopp had a strong week at the plate with a 10-hit week.
Among Dopp's hits were two home runs, two doubles, six RBIs and seven runs.
Emmry Ross, Onsted track
Ross cruised to a four LCAA titles as she cleaned up in the mid-distance races.
Ross won the 400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 and has won 31 of 32 races this season in those four events combined.
JT Hill, Onsted baseball
Hill had a strong week at the plate and on the mound for the Wildcats.
Hill had seven hits with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs while tossing five innings and giving up a run, on three hits and five walks while striking out four.
Wendy Ketola, Tecumseh softball
Ketola had another strong week for Tecumseh in a doubleheader.
Ketola had five hits with a triple, three doubles, six RBIs and five runs.
