LOCAL ROUNDUP : Southwest takes two from Page

Dec. 13—HIGH POINT — Southwest Guilford swept a pair of Metro 4A Conference games from visiting Page on Tuesday. The Cowboys prevailed 82-68 in their league opener while Cowgirls ruled 55-31 and remained undefeated.

Southwest's boys trailed by one at halftime, led by two after three quarters and outscored the Pirates 25-14 in the fourth. The Cowboys improved to 5-1 and 1-0 in the conference while Southwest's girls are 6-0, 1-0.

HP CENTRAL, DUDLEY

GREENSBORO — Dudley's boys topped High Point Central 71-52 in Mid-State 3A action on Tuesday at Dudley. The Panthers dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.

In the girls game, Dudley romped 86-1. Central falls to 0-5, 0-1.

S. GUILFORD, ROCKINGHAM CO.

GREENSBORO — Southern Guilford's boys rolled past Rockingham County 77-45 in Mid-State 3A action on Tuesday at Southern (8-0, 1-0). Rockingham County won the girls game 43-39 as the Storm fell to 1-6, 0-1.

RAGSDALE. N. GUILFORD

GREENSBORO — Northern Guilford won both ends of a doubleheader against Ragsdale on Tuesday as both teams opened Metro 4A Conference play.

Northern prevailed 65-60 in the boys game. Ragsdale (1-4, 0-1 Metro) led 28-27 at halftime but the Nighthawks raced to a 50-40 lead by the end of the third period.

The Nighthawks cruised 70-34 in the girls game as Ragsdale dropped to 3-2, 0-1. Northern led 17-3 after the first period and 33-9 at halftime. Brooke Parker led the Tigers' scoring with 21 points and Larissa Ervin had 10.

WHEATMORE, EAST DAVIDSON

TRINITY — East Davidson's boys edged Wheatmore 56-54 in overtime on Tuesday at Wheatmore.

The Warriors (1-7) led 25-24 at halftime and 41-32 after three quarters in the nonconference contest. The Golden Eagles (6-2) rallied and regulation ended in a 48-48 tie.

Parker Kines led Wheatmore's scoring with 19 points while Gavin Strickland had 11 points, five rebounds and four steals and two blocks.

OAK GROVE, RANDLEMAN

RANDLEMAN — Oak Grove's boys held off Randleman 50-47 in nonconference action at Randleman. The Grizzlies improved to 3-4.

In the girls game, Oak Grove prevailed 43-33 and improved to 7-1. The Grizzlies led 13-0 after one period and 20-7 at halftime.

CPLA, BETHANY

SUMMERFIELD — College Prep and Leadership Academy's boys rolled past host Bethany 90-44 in Northwest Piedmont 1A Conference action on Tuesday. The Royals improved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Bethany won the girls game 70-59 as CPLA dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the league.

LEDFORD GIRLS. FORBUSH

WALLBURG — Forbush's girls rolled past Ledford 69-12 in nonconference action Tuesday at Ledford. The Panthers fall to 2-5.
