LOCAL ROUNDUP: Sanford breaks Hoover's mark

Nov. 7—WALLBURG — Alex Sanford became the all-time leading rusher in Ledford history while closing out his career Friday night.

In a first-round playoff loss to East Lincoln, Sanford gained just over 200 yards, giving him 4,652 career yards and moving him past the 4,595 yards of Brad Hoover, who went on to play for the Carolina Panthers.

SECOND-ROUND PLAYOFF FOOTBALL PAIRINGS

TRIAD — Four teams remain in the high school football playoffs, which will continue Friday night.

In the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs, Bishop McGuinness and Oak Grove will be at home while Thomasville will be on the road. In the semifinals of the NCISAA playoffs, High Point Christian will be at home.

NCHSAA games will start at 7:30 while HPCA's playoff game will start at 7.

Here is the full slate of games for Friday:

1A West — No. 11 Thomasville (8-3) at No. 6 Albemarle (6-5), 7:30; No. 10 Murphy (8-3) at No. 7 Bishop McGuinness (6-5), 7:30

3A West — No. 11 Pisgah (9-2) at No. 6 Oak Grove (10-1), 7:30

NCISAA Div. II semifinals — No. 3 Trinity Christian (9-1) at No. 2 High Point Christian (8-2), 7.
