LOCAL ROUNDUP: Oak Grove, Thomasville face road tests in third round

Nov. 15—TRIAD — Two teams remain in the high school football playoffs — Oak Grove in the 3A and Thomasville in the 1A.

Both teams will be on the road Friday as play continues in the third round of the NCHSAA playoffs.

Oak Grove (11-1), seeded No. 6 in the 3A West, will visit third-seeded West Henderson (12-0). The winner of that game will face either second-seeded Hickory or seventh-seeded A.C. Reynolds in the regional semifinals.

Meanwhile, Thomasville (9-3), seeded No. 11 in the 1A West, will travel to third seeded Eastern Randolph (11-1). The winner of that game will take on either second-seeded Mount Airy or 10th-seeded Murphy in the regional semifinals.

OAK GROVE BOYS, NORTH STANLY/WEST DAVIDSON

TYRO — Oak Grove topped North Stanly 48-30 and West Davidson 54-30 in nonconference boys wrestling Tuesday at West Davidson.

Winning for Oak Grove against North Stanley were: Braxton Pass (113 pounds, fall), Bryson Fleming (126, fall), Gavin Murray (fall), Brice Baker (144, dec 12-7), Zach Rine (150, fall), Jacob Hillis (157, dec 5-3), Carson Mendenhall (165, forfeit), Brian Byrd (175, forfeit) and Jackson Oaks (215, fall).

TYRO — Oak Grove swept Central Davidson 33-18, North Stanly 42-6 and West Davidson 36-30 in nonconference girls wrestling at West Davidson.
