LOCAL ROUNDUP: Danville boys roll to win in Chicago

Dec. 4—CHICAGO — The Danville boys basketball team hit the road to Chicago and was able to dominate Chicago Ogden 85-46 on Friday.

Devin Larkin had 32 points for the Vikings, who ha da 49-25 halftime lead, while Demarcus Lucas had 16 points, Persiris Menifield had 11 points, Ja'Vaughn Robinson had 10 and Jerry Reed had eight.

The Vikings will stay on the road to take on Rantoul today.

At Chicago

Cam Steinbaugh had 26 points to lead the Tigers, while Drew Wichtowski had 13 points, Matt Darling scored six and Aiden Skinner added five.

The Tigers will take on Milford on Tuesday.

GEORGETOWN — The Georgetown-Ridge Farm boys basketball team was able to do just enough to beat Judah Christian 44-39 on Friday.

Jase Latoz had 19 points to lead the Buffaloes, who had the same point total as the Tribe in every quarter except for the second, where Geo-RF outscored Judah Christian 11-6.

A'John Watson had 15 points for Geo-RF, while Devin Vice, Landon Heck and William Runyan each had three points.

BISMARCK — After losing a close game with Unity on Tuesday, the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin boys basketball team took all its frustrations out on Friday.

The Blue Devils had a 28-20 halftime lead, but would outscore Lexington 40-19 in the second half for a 68-39 win.

Ayden Ingram had 20 points to lead BHRA, while Keison Peoples had 16, Chaz Dubois had 12 points, Landon Leigh had eight and Micah Stanford added six.

The Blue Devils return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Cissna Park.

At Bismarck

HOOPESTON — The Hoopeston Area boys basketball team had a 21-10 first quarter lead and held on to a 68-49 win over Notre Dame de La Salette Academy.

Mason Rush had 18 points to lead the Cornjerkers with three rebounds and three assists, while Owen Root had 17 points, three assists and two blocks, Kendrick Sigerill had 13 points with five rebounds and two assists, Wyatt Eisemann had 12 points with nine rebounds three assists and two steals and Trenton Montez had five points, five assists, seven assists and three steals.

The Cornjerkers then played Clifton Central on Saturday, but lost 56-44.

Root had 11 points with six rebounds for Hoopeston Area, while Eisenmann had 10 points with three assists and three steals, Sigerill had eight points and five rebounds and Trenton Montez had seven steals.

Covington 73, Faith Christian 69

COVINGTON, Ind. — Austin Stein had 33 points with 11 rebounds and five assists as the Trojans got past Faith Christian.

Coye Ferguson and Max Waddell each had 12 points for Covington with Ferguson getting nine rebounds and two steals and Waddell had six rebounds and Landon Herzog had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Trojans were coming off a 85-58 loss to Covenant Christian on Friday. Herzog had 20 points with eight rebounds for the Trojans, while Ferguson had 17 points with five rebounds, three assists and two blocks, Slider had nine points and Stein had six points with seven assists.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL

BHRA 39, Oakwood 39

FITHIAN — Down 27-22 going into the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils outscored the Comets 17-7 to get the win on Monday.

Marleigh Schmit had 10 points for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, while Beth McMahon and Gentry Elson each had six pints and Sophia Stines added five.

Jaydah Arrowsmith had 15 points to lead Oakwood, while Nikita Taylor added eight and Gracie Hanner and Mady Nicoson each added four.

The Comets were coming off a 57-31 win over Rantoul on Saturday.

Taylor had 19 points to lead Oakwood, while Arrowsmith had 16 and Hanner and Nicoson each had six points.

PREP SWIMMING

Urbana 113, Danville 16

URBANA — Alexander Faulkner won two events as the Vikings lost to the Tigers on Saturday.

Faulkner won the 100 yard freestyle (51.80 seconds) and the 200 individual medley (2:06.91) for Danville, while Jesse Grupe took third in the 50 freestyle (33.08) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:32.43).

Fountain Central divers compete

MACONAQUAH — The Mustang divers went to the Maconaquah High School diving invitational on Saturday.

William Armstrong was fourth for the Fountain Central boys while Payton Hocking was third, Josie Harshbarger took seventh and Esme Muniz took 10th for the girls.

PREP WRESTLING

Fountain Central hosts invite

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — The Mustangs hosted North Vermillion, South Vermillion, West Lafayette, South Putnam and South Newton in the Fountain Central Invitational on Saturday.

The Falcons were third behind first place West Lafayette and South Vermillion. Aden Rangel (126), Wyatt Walters (132), Andrew Botner (144), Warren Pollard (150), Landen Baker (190) and Aidan Hinchee (215) each won individual championships.

Dallas Simmons (120) and Dakoda Willoughby (138) won individual titles and Caylum Wills was tied for the 165 title.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

DACC 79, Triton 54

RIVER GROVE — Keiara Gregory had 29 points with three assists as the Lady Jaguars easily beat Triton on Saturday.

Rylee Dowers had 18 points and six assists and two steals for Danville Area Community College, Jayla Greer had 14 points, Brianna Hamilton had 12 points and Wariya Alhassan had nine rebounds.

The Lady Jaguars will face Olive-Harvey Community College on Saturday.
