LOCAL ROUNDUP: Danville boys game rescheduled

Jan. 18—DANVILLE — Tuesday's boys basketball game featuring Danville High against Teutopolis has been rescheduled.

The game, which was schedule for Tuesday and was postponed, will now be played on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Danville High. The Junior Varsity game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the Varsity game starting at 7 p.m.

The Vikings, who have had their last two games postponed, will be in action on Friday against Bloomington.

N. Vermillion 47, S. Vermillion 10

CAYUGA, Ind. — The Falcons jumped out to a 38-3 halftime lead and did not look back in a game that was moved from Tuesday.

Cadence Dunham had 15 points for North Vermillion, while Kera Dunham had eight, Lauren Ellis and Kayanna Smith each had six points, Ava Jumps had five and Braxtyn Dunham added five.

The Falcons will be in action today against Covington.

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Covington girls basketball team was able to rally in the second half on Tuesday to beat Crawfordsville 40-32 in non-conference play.

Alex Sutherlin had 15 points for the Trojans, who were tied with the Athenians 16-16 at halftime but Covington would get the 24-16 edge in the second half. Peyton Brown had 11 points, Sydni Crain had six and Emma Holycross added five.

Litzy Huesca led the Athenians with 12 points while Madison Hedrick added eight.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Illinois 96, Rutgers 68

CHAMPAIGN —Six Illini players scored in double figures as they beat the Scarlet Knights at home.

Genesis Bryant had 17 points for Illinois, while Adalia McKenzie had 14 points, Kendall Bostic had 13 points and seven rebounds, Camille Hobby had 12 points and eight rebounds, Makira cook had 12 points and seven assists and Gretchen Dolan had 11 points.

The Illini are 8-8 and 2-4 in the Big Ten and will travel to Maryland on Friday.
