Livingston County's fastest cross country times heading into state meet

Breaking 16 minutes in high school cross country signifies big-boy status.

So far this season, seven Livingston County boys have cracked that barrier, which matches 2019 and 2022 for the most in records going back to 2009.

With the state meet scheduled for Saturday at Michigan International Speedway, there’s a chance the county could end up with at least eight members of that club this season. Tyler Brock and Brady Millington of Brighton are within eight seconds of going sub-16. Brighton’s Tyler Outlaw is within 12 seconds. All three are juniors, so there’s a good chance they’ll break 16 minutes before their careers end.

If the weather remains cool and dry the rest of the week, the MIS course is capable of producing personal records.

On the girls side, Brighton has nine runners who have broken 20 minutes. That means the third-ranked Bulldogs will have two sub-20 girls on the sidelines for the state meet.

Here are the fastest times in the county heading into the state meet:

Pinckney's Evan Loughridge leads Livingston County cross country runners with a time of 15:17.3 in 2023.
