Live updates: Follow along for Savannah-area high school football playoff scores
It's the time of football season where all players, coaches and teams aim to end up when they first don the pads in August — as the Georgia State semifinals commence tonight at stadiums throughout the state.
There are four Savannah-area teams still vying for a spot in the state finals, which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium from Dec. 11-13.
All the teams will be on the road. Two-time defending state champion Benedictine, ranked No. 1 among Class 4A teams by the AJC, is at Stockbridge, while top-ranked Calvary Day is at No. 2 Cedar Grove in a Class 3A showdown.
Savannah Christian, No. 4 in 3A, is on the road to face Carver-Columbus, and upstart Bryan County is on the road for its first ever semifinal appearance at No. 1 Prince Avenue Christian.
