Little girl marks her tee-ball debut with a base hit and a cartwheel

When it comes to sports, Mattea DiGirolamo is what you might call a budding all-rounder.

The six-year-old from Kenilworth, New Jersey, began doing gymnastics last fall and tee-ball in the spring. When her gym coach suggested she start practicing her cartwheels, Mattea took his advice.

During her first-ever tee-ball game, she combined the two sports, celebrating a base hit with a crowd-pleasing move all her own.

“I am really proud of her for being herself and having fun in the moment that was captured so perfectly,” her father, Sal DiGirolamo, told NJ Advance Media. “It really shows how special her personality is, and I am glad she put a smile on so many faces.”

And, oh, by the way, tee ball and gymnastics are not Mattea’s only sports, as she’s also a yellow belt in karate.
