Lions add WR Breshad Perriman, son of former Detroit wideout Brett Perriman
The newest Lions wide receiver brings a familiar name back to Detroit. The Lions are signing Breshad Perriman to a one-year contract, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network via Perriman’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
Perriman will earn $3 million to come to Detroit. He spent the 2020 season with the New York Jets, catching 30 passes for 505 yards and three TDs.
He is the son of former Lions wideout Brett Perriman, who played for Detroit from 1991-1996. If he comes anywhere close to his father’s Detroit peak — 108 receptions for 1,488 yards and nine TDs in 1995 — Lions fans will be ecstatic at adding Breshad.
It hasn’t happened yet for the younger Perriman, a first-round pick by the Ravens in 2016. He has bounced around four teams and has just 125 career receptions. He has played well the last two seasons, first in Tampa Bay and last year in New York. Perriman is a big, speedy vertical threat with a career 16.5 yards-per-catch average.
