Linebacker Jayon Brown leaves Tennessee Titans, signs with Las Vegas Raiders as free agent

Jayon Brown's time in Nashville has come to an end.

The free-agent inside linebacker signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, the team announced Thursday. It ends Brown's stint with the Tennessee Titans after five seasons.

A 2017 fifth-round pick, Brown started in 39 of 66 career games with the Titans. The 27 year old was a strong coverage linebacker for Tennessee from 2018-19, but an elbow injury limited his 2020 season to 11 games. He re-signed with the Titans on a one-year, prove-it deal last offseason but was again limited by injury this past year – he played 10 games in 2021 – and saw his role diminished.

Brown had 385 tackles (75 for loss), four interceptions, 28 passes defended, 9.5 sacks, 18 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles in five seasons with the Titans.

Zach Cunningham, claimed off waivers last December, and David Long Jr. are expected to be the Titans' starting inside linebackers next season. 2021 third-round pick Monty Rice figures to be the third option.

Fellow inside linebacker Rashaan Evans, a former first-round pick who's been with the Titans the last four seasons, remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent.

Brown is the third Titans' unrestricted free agent known to have gone elsewhere, joining running back D'Onta Foreman (Panthers) and defensive tackle Kyle Peko (Raiders).
