Lexington's Corbin named Division II District Boys Soccer Player of the Year

MANSFIELD — Leadership and sacrifice gets rewarded.

So, it is no surprise to see Lexington senior Terrance Corbin was named the 2023 Division II District Player of the Year by the North Central Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association. The defensive midfielder was instrumental in helping the Minutemen win their sixth consecutive Division II district championship and the 2023 Ohio Cardinal Conference title after making a position change this season.

For the last three years, he played center back but made the transition to center mid this season to create a smoother transition from offense to defense, and the Minutemen are in the regional tournament for the sixth straight year because of it.

Corbin was joined on the first team by teammates Brody Earick, Zach Turlo and Jaxson Husty while Jack Hiebel, Will Perkins and Dylan George were second-team selections. Nolan Steward and JayByx Mack were honorable mentions.

Ontario put six on the list, headlined by Dante McGinty and Hector Sanchez-Vidal as first teamers and Jace Young and Ezra Pearce as second teamers. Austin Boughton and Evan Ruhe were honorable mentions.

Clear Fork had seven players selected: Connor Hauger and Jaden Beachy as first team selections; Liam Beer, Branson Frost and Kade Beachy were second teamers; while Bryson Shaffner and Caleb Peters were honorable mentions.

Mansfield Senior saw six players earn honors. Griffin DeBolt and Justin Crall were first-team honorees while Quinten DeBolt and Syncere Long were second teamers and Braxton Hock and Caleb Bowman were honorable mentions.
