Headlines

Locked in

Not since 2010 has Adrian been this comfortable with its playoff position with two weeks left in the regular season.

At 6-1, the Maples are tied for third in playoff points for Division 4 with Goodrich at 57.571 and have two non-conference games with Division 3 Fowlerville and Flint Kearsley.

Adrian is not only a lock for the playoffs, but the Maples are looking at home field advantage for the district playoffs.

Adrian made the playoffs in 2010 with an 8-1 record and has made the playoffs three times since and had 5-4 records in each of those seasons.

The Maples have won a pair of district titles in that span in 2011 and 2016.

The rest of the pack

Along with Adrian, Tecumseh is currently in the playoffs despite a 3-4 record with 39 points (27th in Division 4). Tecumseh hosts Division 1 Loy Norrix (1-5) next week and Division 4 Bay City John Glenn (2-5) to finish the regular season.

In Division 7, Clinton is sixth with 41.190 playoff points while Blissfield is 14th (33). The Redwolves are a lock and the Royals are in good position to make the field.

In Division 8, Hudson is the top team with 41.143 points while Addison is eighth (38.238) and with a win this week, Sand Creek at 3-4 is 26th (24.179). The Tigers and Panthers are both locks while the Aggies play at Division 7 Bronson and Division Erie Mason at home with those teams a combined 5-9.

Lenawee Christian is the top team in Division 2 8-man with 33.071 while Britton Deerfield needs a pair of upsets against Concord and Toledo Christian to make it with a 4-5 record.

Conference championships

Adrian saw its hopes dashed of an SEC White title two weeks ago as the Maples fell to Chelsea while the Bulldogs went 5-0 in the league, although Adrian came close to sharing as Jackson had a few chances to win in Week 7 in Chelsea, but lost 21-14 to finish behind the Maples.

Clinton and Hudson are a week away from another winner-take-all LCAA showdown in Week 9 at Wegner Stadium in Clinton. The Redwolves and Tigers need to not trip up in Week 8 against Hillsdale and Dundee.

Week 8 will feature unbeatens Lenawee Christian and Pittsford playing for the SCAA East Division championship with the Cougars playing at home.

Addison clinched a spot in the inaugural Cascades Conference championship game as West Division champs and will play East Division champions Napoleon. The Pirates won the Cascades Conference last season, ending the Panthers run of three-straight titles.

"Our No. 1 goal was to win the division," said Panthers' coach Joshua Lindeman. "Now, we get the chance to go and play the winner of the East, Napoleon, who's undefeated. It's nice winning the West. We want the West to go through us every year."
