LaMelo Ball’s monster game came after ‘no warmup, no nothing’ due to a COVID-19 testing issue

Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball set a franchise rookie record with 7 made threes on Monday night. His 24 points led Charlotte (12-13) to a 119-94 win over the Houston Rockets (11-12) at the Spectrum Center.

The most surprising part of the performance came after the game, when we received some context for the performance from Ball. When asked by Ashley ShahAhmadi of Fox Sports Southeast about the secret to his career night, the rookie admitted he wasn’t even allowed to warmup due to a COVID-19 testing issue.

All Ball did was walk onto the court with zero warmup at all and drop seven threes en route to a blowout win. This rookie is special.

Miles Bridges, Ball’s favorite alley-oop partner, also made a surprise appearance:

When you see the names Stephen Curry and Jason Kidd next to LaMelo Ball in a graphic, you know it was a unique night for the 19 year-old. All he had to do was step on the court and go to work. No warmup necessary.
