Lambeau Field games, even Taylor Swift game, are getting cheaper, while road games are not

GREEN BAY – The price of Green Bay Packers tickets for road games held their value during the past week, but games at Lambeau Field got cheaper.

The Packers, who defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, play in Pittsburgh next. The average get-in price for the game this coming Sunday is $183, compared to $186 last week. The price is determined by averaging the lowest prices of 11 secondary marketplaces.

The Packers defeated an admittedly undermanned Los Angeles Rams team on Sunday, but a win is a win. They will have a tougher time in Pittsburgh. The AFC North might be the toughest division in the NFL, so there is a lot to engage Steelers fans, who are as dedicated as Packers fans when it comes to supporting their team. The Baltimore Ravens lead the division at 7-2, and Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati are each 5-3.

The Packers have not played well much of this year. Sunday's victory ended a four-game losing streak and the next four games are against three teams with winning records and one, the Los Angeles Chargers, that is talented, although playing below expectations.

And speaking of pull, the Packers and Chargers don't exactly have a rivalry. They've played only 12 times in 53 years, with the Packers leading the series 10-2. Also, the Nov. 19 contest is a Gold package game, meaning many of the season ticket holders are from the Milwaukee area and southern Wisconsin. Earlier this season, the other Gold package game was on a Thursday night against Detroit, and Packers fans were aghast at the number of Detroit fans at Lambeau Field.

You would expect that getting a noon game at Lambeau would be attractive to Gold package holders, but Nov. 19 also is the second day of deer season in Wisconsin, which provides its own attractions. With the Packers playing as they have been, deer hunting might take precedence.

At any rate, the average get-in price for the Chargers game is $105, down $31 from the previous week and $41 from Oct. 23. The face value of the least expensive tickets in Lambeau Field is $129. Five of the 11 marketplaces that comprise our average had tickets in the $80 to $89 range.

The Packers go back on the road on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit. Lions fans are excited about their team, as evidenced at Lambeau Field, and are parting with tickets at a high price. The average get-in price is $366, one of the most expensive games on the Packers' schedule.

Even the prices for tickets to the Kansas City Chiefs game at Lambeau on Dec. 3 have cooled off since last week. Perhaps the Taylor Swift excitement is taking a break until it can be known if she'll attend that game. The get-in average was $161, compared to $183 the previous week, and $193 two weeks ago.

Ticket prices

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, GametimeGreen Bay Ticket Service,  SeatGeekStubHubTicketIQTicket KingTicketmasterTickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats.

Note that ticket brokers can add fees on top of the prices listed here, so actual costs might be higher.

The Packers announced they will sell standing-room-only tickets for all home games this season. The face value of SRO tickets is $93. The SRO section is on the fourth level of the south end zone.

As the standing-room-only tickets are designated as not available for resale, any tickets found on the secondary market cannot be verified, so buyers should proceed at their own risk. If fans purchase standing-room-only tickets on the secondary market and encounter issues with the tickets, their only recourse would be to contact the ticket seller.

The get-in price averages do not include standing-room-only tickets.

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Oct. 16:

Steelers results: Pittsburgh is 5-3. The Steelers defeated the Tennessee Titans 20-16 on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: The Packers ended a four-game losing streak with Sunday's victory. The Steelers have had an up and down year, but under Coach Mike Tomlin, expect up more than down. He's never had a losing season.

Secondary marketplace TicketSmarter said this was the second-most expensive game remaining on the Packers' schedule, after the Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit. TicketSmarter had a Steelers game get-in price of $153 and an average price of $297.

Range of lowest-cost seats: $283-$478

Lions results: Detroit is 6-2. The Lions were on a bye last week. They play the Chargers on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: The Lions lead the division, a position the Packers were accustomed to holding during most of the past 30 years. The Lions defeated the Packers 34-20 at Lambeau Field earlier this season. The Packers have lost four consecutive games to Detroit, so this will be a good test of any progress the Packers have — or haven't — made this season. This game is the first of three on Thanksgiving Day. The Packers have a losing record, historically, when playing on Thanksgiving.

This is the most expensive game remaining on the schedule, and ranks just behind the Las Vegas game as the most expensive of the year. TicketSmarter's get-in price is $292, with an overall average of $513.

Chiefs results: Kansas City is 7-2. The Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins 21-14 in Frankfort, Germany, on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: If you're a football fan, the Packers will face the defending Super Bowl champions and one of the NFL's best teams. If you're a Taylor Swift fan, there is the possibility she'll show up to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce play tight end for the Chiefs, something she's done numerous times when she's not touring. She will be on a touring break when this game is played.

TicketSmarter's get-in price is $120, with an overall average of $260.
