Lamar Jackson apologizes after Instagram video of him driving 105 mph with seatbelt light on

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is a fast runner, but he might not be limiting his speed displays to the football field.

According to TMZ, Jackson posted a video on his Instagram account that appears to show him driving 105 mph. Assuming Jackson isn’t driving on the Autobahn, that might be illegal.

And it certainly could be deemed dangerous. As could the fact that it appears Jackson’s seatbelt light is on, which normally indicates that he’s not wearing it properly — or at all. It’s possible that Jackson’s Mercedes needs a new spark plug, but ...

The video appears to have been taken down from his Instagram account since the TMZ story surfaced.

Jackson apologizes

After the TMZ report, Jackson apologized on Twitter and promised to set “a better example going forward.”

Are the Ravens aware?

The Ravens did not comment on the story when asked by TMZ. But it wouldn’t be shocking if the team reached out to Jackson to let it be known that they weren’t thrilled with him driving — and recording it on his phone — so fast.

Joe Flacco is expected to be traded to the Denver Broncos once the league year officially begins on Wednesday, meaning it’s Jackson’s show as the Ravens’ starting quarterback. Plenty of NFL players have been cited for moving violations over the years, but it can’t thrill the team to see this video, even if Jackson can somehow explain the circumstances.

We’ll see if the team issues a statement or discusses this at any point. But it’s likely they saw the video before it got taken off his page.
