Kyler Murray donates to victims of mall shooting in hometown of Allen, Texas

The shooting last Saturday at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas was "sickening" for Kyler Murray, who starred at Allen High School before winning the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma and then entering the pro ranks.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback donated $25,000 between two GoFundMe campaigns to assist victims of the shooting, where eight people died and seven others were injured.

Murray was listed as a top donor in both fundraisers. He sent $10,000 to a general fund for the victims that was organized by families who have experienced previous shootings and $15,000 to a page supporting 6-year-old William Cho, who lost his parents and 3-year-old brother in the shooting.

On Tuesday, Murray shared a link to a group of fundraisers with a person on Twitter who asked how to help. Murray also asked if anyone knew about funeral arrangements for the victims.

"Heart wrenching, I just donated and here are more verified links for other victims as well," he said.

Murray was hindered by injury last season and appeared in 11 games as the Cardinals went 4-13 and fired coach Kliff Kingsbury. The quarterback was selected to back-to-back Pro Bowls in the 2020 and 2021 seasons and received a five-year, $230.5 million extension last offseason.

Murray is recovering from ACL surgery as Jonathan Gannon has stepped in as head coach and the team received new uniforms, of which he said, "We are going to win a lot of games in these."

Murray's parents still reside in Allen.
