Klay Thompson Injury: Warriors guard out of his walking boot

During the Golden State Warriors four-game Texas road trip, injured guard Klay Thompson has been traveling with the team. Prior to tip-off against the Spurs, Thompson displayed a new step in the rehab of his injured Achilles.

The five-time All-Star guard appeared without a walking boot on his right foot. Thompson has been sidelined for the season since tearing the Achilles tendon in his right leg in November.

Before the Warriors took the court in San Antonio, Steve Kerr told reporters Thompson is on schedule with his Achilles rehab.

He’s definitely on schedule; he had a check-up a couple of weeks ago with the surgeon that I believe went well. He was excited to get the boot off. It’s great to have him on the trip. Everything is on schedule.

Although Kerr said he doesn’t know what’s next for Thompson, he called getting the boot off a “milestone.”

I haven’t talked to Rick (Celebrini) — getting the boot off is a milestone. I’m not sure what’s next.

With a torn Achilles recovery slated for nine to 12 months, Thompson could possibly make his return at the start of the 2021-22 season.

Along with the removal of his walking boot, Thompson and the Warriors celebrated his 31st birthday on Monday.
