KJ Jefferson counseling future stars at Manning Academy
KJ Jefferson has cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation.
That isn’t a surprise to anyone who watched Arkansas football last year. But nationally, the junior is beginning to get some love, too. And by some of the best to ever play.
Jefferson will serve as a counselor at the Manning Passing Academy this week. The academy is run by Archie Manning with sons Peyton, Eli and Cooper. The goal is to help junior-high and high-school quarterbacks develop their skills and futures with some of college football’s finest.
“I’m excited, coming from where I come from, that’s a big-time deal,” Jefferson said. “Just being able to be selected for that is truly an honor.”
Jefferson helped Arkansas to a 9-4 record, the Razorbacks’ best year since 2011, throwing for 2,676 yards with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. He ran for another 664 yards and six scores.
The academy will have 45 college quarterbacks to help the 1,350 campers.
“It’s always fun to get to know the guys and build relationships with the quarterbacks in our conference, and other conferences as well,” Jefferson said. “On Saturday, we know we’re competing with each other, but it’s all love at the end of the day.”
